Jackalope

I'm all for dressing festive for the holidays and Jackalope sweaters just make it even better! I love all aspects of holiday outfits from the dorky Christmas sweaters to a full on sequin ensemble. I still have many more holiday outfits to bust out but I decided to start off by wearing something a little more spunky and somewhat casual. I absolutely adore this Jackalope sweater I scored last year. Even if you don't know what a jackalope is (which I'm finding out more and more people don't), you will at least think it's a weird looking reindeer. I've been loving these gold polka dot tights and think it's perfect paired with any skirt or dress! This is something I'd wear to a Secret Santa gift exchange or to see some Christmas lights. I've just been in a festive mood lately and hopefully you have been too (now that finals are coming to an end)!

Thanksgiving Outfit

This Thanksgiving, I decked myself out in all J.Crew. I hadn't realized this until now, but wow. I sure do love me some good J.Crew staple pieces! Anywho, I thought a casual dress paired with a statement blazer would be appropriate for a Thanksgiving lunch. I tend to dress up a little more for Thanksgiving since I see family that I usually don't see on a normal day to day basis. Let's start off by saying I absolutely love this blazer. I am all for the Liberty print and think it's a very unique piece. This blazer is definitely on the top list of purchases I've made at J.Crew. I wanted to stay comfy so I opted for a chambray denim dress, which if needed, could also cover my food baby. On a side note, I know I'm wearing all J.Crew, but I didn't intend to! It just happened to mesh together so well. You can also do this with what you already have in your closet such as your own casual dress and a fun blazer. Just wanted to do a quick post here on how to look and feel sophisticated for Thanksgiving. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your family & friends!

November Outfits

Camo Jeans // Gap
I've been loving these camo jeans I snagged from Gap. (On sale too, woot woot!) I have been wanting a pair of camo print jeans for a while and I finally found the perfect pair. They are comfortable and really work well with a lot of pieces in my wardrobe.
Dress (Similar) // H&M
This maroon dress has been my go to dress choice lately. I bought it probably over a year ago and still wear it religiously. I love how I can wear the dress multiple ways. When worn with a sweater over it, the dress transforms into a dreamy, flowing skirt. I also have the choice of pairing it with a blazer or cardigan, fully showcasing the dress. I've included the same dress (same fit) in the link above but it just comes in different colors and prints. If you aren't digging the prints, I know H&M constantly puts out this dress with new colors and prints every so often, so just wait until the perfect color comes out! : )
Camo Jacket (Similar) // Gap
Again, me with my camo. Hey, you can't blame me, it's basically a neutral print! This is an outfit I'd wear on a casual day such as to school or running errands. It gets pretty chilly in the morning so I love to just grab a jacket and go. If you have trouble pairing camo with items in your closet, just wear it with clothing items you would wear a green parka/jacket with. It will definitely create a pop in your outfit with the camo print!
I had always thought ties were for men, but us chicks can rock it too! I experimented with wearing a tie and although it's a bold choice, I still love how it looks. It is feminine but has a little hint of masculine elements involved. A tie also looks great paired under a sweater as well!
Cardigan (Similar) // Nordstrom
I recently bought this cardigan during a Nordstrom sale and I gotta say, it's not very practical but I just couldn't seem to part ways with it. The fuzzy stuff sheds literally everywhere but it's just so cute, I couldn't resist. I've been loving the fuzzy textured cardigans and sweaters this season. They make me feel so luxurious, and to be honest, who wouldn't want to feel luxurious and elegant?
Cardigan // Target
My recent trip to Target was because of this cardigan. I had been eyeing this for a while but knew I should wait until it went on sale. This is actually a kid's/girl's cardigan but I got it in an XL size so it fits! It's really comfy and I love the print on it. Definitely worth the current sale price. I've come to realize the fact that some little kids clothing items fit better on me--and I'm embracing it!

Vintage Ferragamo

Recently, I cleaned out a massive heap of shoes in my garage. While doing so, I discovered these old Ferragamo black flats that were my mom's back in the day. It immediately caught my attention and, to my surprise, it fit my feet perfectly. I felt like Cinderella--except this was much better than a glass slipper. (Who needs prince charming when you can have stylish shoes?) In the close up pictures, you can see that the pattern is similar to a snake/reptile print, which makes it even more unique! I was a bit hesitant to wear the flats since they might seem old-fashioned, but I decided since they still look rad to me, I'm gonna rock them! I paired it here with my favorite skirt of all time, the daisy mini lace skirt from J.Crew. Putting the skirt and flats together looks very lady-like but adding the sequined polka dot top adds spunk and personality. (At least, in my opinion.) The Ferragamos work great for the fall with black or patterned tights and a dress. It's perfect for those upcoming holiday parties as well. I'm really happy I discovered these flats because they are definitely timeless and chic.

Recent Buys

1. Jeweled Knit Tee // J.Crew 2. Booties // Nordstrom Rack 3. Necklace //  J.Crew Factory 4. Chambray Eyelet Top // Madewell 5. Minnie Pant // J.Crew 6. Monk Strap Shoes // Nordstrom Rack

1. My oh my! Isn't this Jeweled Knit Tee just what you need in your life? It's the perfect mix of casual meets glam. I recently snatched this shirt when it went on sale at J.Crew. It looks great dressed up with a blazer but also works perfect with just a simple pair of jeans and some flats. This is such a great shirt for fall especially with the maroon and navy colors going on. I'm so excited to wear it over and over again!

2. I scored these awesome Dolce Vita Tassel Booties at Nordstrom Rack. I remember when it first came out in Nordstrom stores, it was on a special pre-sale price but it was still too pricey for me. So, when my shocked self saw them at Nordstrom Rack I knew it was my last chance to pick them up! I don't really have much black ankle length booties--I usually get drawn toward browns. So between the maroon, navy, and black colors offered, I decided to go classic and choose black. These would look great with tights, dresses, or skinny jeans and a cargo jacket.

3. I've been starting to collect more statement necklaces. I think they look so elegant paired with casual clothing items and can also really dress up an outfit when you need it to. It's just always going to be a go to accessory when you need to add an extra hint of sophistication to your outfit. I scored this beauty at J.Crew Factory during their 50% off everything sale. I saw this necklace a while ago and I decided to pass on it, and every time I went back, the necklace was nowhere in sight. So, when I found it last weekend, I knew I had to get it when I saw it hanging in all its glory on a rack.

4. My close friend was actually the one who first showed me this adorable, light-weight chambray eyelet top. I think it's so unique and cute! It's a denim top with small hole punch cut-outs. This is definitely more of a summer top, but I'm excited to find many different ways to wear it as a transition piece into fall. For starters, it would look great with colored jeans (I'm thinkin' maroon jeans for fall) or a skirt. It's an awesome shirt for me to throw on to go shopping or to hang out with friends!

If you want to see how I paired the statement necklace and chambray top, you can click [here]!

5. Before I met J.Crew's Minnie Pants, I was always a jeans kind of gal. But now that I've added Minnie Pants into the mix, I couldn't be happier! I live by my Minnie Pants; it's perfect for when you need to dress up or look professional and it can also be worn casually to run errands or to go to class if you're getting too tired of your jeans. I bought a navy color since it's such a classic color that matches with a lot of colors. The Minnie Pant literally goes with everything and is so flattering on!

6. THESE. MONK STRAP. LOAFERS. What more do I have to say? These shoes have got to be my favorite purchase so far. I love how vintage and unique they look. I've been wanting to get my hands on some monk strap shoes, but they were always out of my price range. I told myself to wait and be patient and I guess that paid off! I love how the shoe transforms the whole vibe of an outfit. I feel as though I'm channeling my inner Alexa Chung (she's a goddess...) whenever I slip these on. I've been wearing them non-stop ever since I got them. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see how I most recently styled them! Now, I just need a black pair. ; )
P.S. They are actually a size 5 and I am a 5.5-6 (I rarely fit size 5) but I stretched them out a bit using thick socks and a blow dryer. The things I would do to fit this shoe...

Hope you enjoyed my recent purchases! If you've made it to the end, thanks so much for sticking out paragraph after paragraph of my rambling! Have a great rest of the week!

Mission Inn

Too fancy for you! ; )

This past weekend I went to Riverside to see Young the Giant perform at UCR's Bloc Party! Along with that, I got to explore Downtown Riverside and the Mission Inn area. It was surprisingly a very nice and cozy area! Patrick and I went to the massive antique store and... I gotta say, there is something thrilling and exhilarating about going through old stuff! It was so much fun browsing the four (yes, four!) floors of the antique store. All in all, it was a very enjoyable afternoon spent with good company and a delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte. : ) I am aware my outfit is on polka dot overload but you should know by now polka dots are considered a neutral for me. I'm loving this Madewell top I purchased recently. It's perfect for dressing up  (perhaps with a pencil skirt) or down (with jeans). Plus, two classic prints in one shirt?! I'll take that!

Have a good week everyone!

Feelin' Foxy for Fall

So, fall is slowly approaching, which means...this heat wave of death will end soon (hopefully)!! One trend I love for the fall is animal sweaters! I love having a random animal or critter on my sweater because I think it's just so quirky and cute. It's perfect for layering for the fall and can definitely be dressed up or down. What can I say, I just feel so foxy in this sweater. ;-) (*insert laugh) This is an outfit I would wear to work or somewhere where you have to look more put together and dressed up. I know I look like I'm a teacher or something, but hey, there's nothing wrong with that! I so badly want to have glasses, but unfortunately (or fortunately) me eyesight doesn't require that I need glasses. Regardless, I decided to put on some fake glasses to make the look more polished and stylish. This sweater just made me 10 times more excited for fall!

Zebra, Zebra, & Zebra

I've been looking at my wardrobe and realized I really need more simple pieces--comfy tees and simple printed shirts. I love just throwing a shirt on and still looking polished. I decided to get this fun zebra printed shirt from Forever 21. I'm a big sucker for animal prints on clothing items because I think it makes the outfit more unique and fun. I decided to dress up this zebra shirt in this look with my lovely polka dot skirt from Ann Taylor. (Scored this baby on a 50% off sale items day!) I instantly feel better about myself just slipping on this skirt and with the zebra printed shirt, it's the perfect touch! I'm definitely planning to wear this zebra shirt with skirts, some plain old jeans, and layered with cardigans during the fall! Also, on a side note, I decided to trim my hair a couple of inches! At the salon, the hair stylist curled my hair into these loose, effortless waves. I still have yet to master the skills to achieve this look, but until then, I will keep trying!
