Pat & Soph's Essentials

It is no surprise that my current essentials are statement necklaces and chambray shirts. I wear a chambray shirt with an endless amount of things in my closet and it's so versatile to be either dressed up or down. I wear it with a pencil skirt and a statement necklace to work and just throw it on with a pair of jeans or shorts when hanging out. As for necklaces, I am really diggin' statement necklaces of all kinds now. I love how a simple statement necklace can make an outfit extraordinary and look so much fancier or stylish. Plus, a denim shirt and a statement necklace will always make a stylish pair! I love a good chambray shirt and my obsession with statement necklaces is growing...and it's going to be a problem.

Patrick recently splurged (or as I like to call it--invested) on a pair of Rayban sunglasses and of course it became one of his essentials. These sunglasses are clubmasters and definitely add a retro vibe to an outfit. They are also polarized too which is definitely a plus! Another one of Patrick's essentials is a good ol' plaid flannel. According to him, the colors look pretty "summery" and a plaid flannel can literally match anything. They look great tucked into some colored jean or shorts for different occasions. And even better, they are pretty darn comfy too.
COOL BOY-DANCING-MACHINE ALERT!?
(P.S. Is it sad that Patrick is a better model than I am?)

One Dress Two Ways

If you saw my East Coast Adventures blog post (here), then you should recognize this pink floral dress! I wore it to my cousin's wedding and didn't want it to be one of those fancy dresses that just stay in the closet collecting dust after it has been worn to the event. So, here are two ways I would incorporate this dress into my work (or daily) wardrobe!
For the first look, this is a fun way to give a dress an extra kick of uniqueness! It's sort of a "J.Crew" thing to do and I actually learned about this styling tip from my co-workers back in Malibu. I love how the dress looks more casual but still put together with a button-down shirt underneath. It's a one of a kind look and will definitely make you feel and look stylish! For my second look, this is a more classic look that I would wear to work. Might I add that I love, love, love blazers. It's starting to become an obsession. (Especially J.Crew blazersthey fit like a dream). The blush pink of the dress and the chambray blazer makes a lovely combination. I will bust out this dress on occasion and make sure it doesn't stay hidden away in my closet!

Spotted in Polka Dots

Yup, the time has come for me to bust out my spunky polka dot pants! But more importantly, did anyone else catch my pun in my title? To be honest, these pants were just added into my shopping cart to get over $50 online at Forever 21 so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. I was so surprised by how flattering they looked on! I love the color of the pants; it's a mix of periwinkle and blue and the white polka dots give it an extra spunk! I wore this to work a while ago at J.Crew and I got a lot of compliments on it and many people were surprised it was from Forever 21. These pants work great for work days because the pants are a definitely a statement piece so you can just add on a plain top, pair it with a blazer, and you're good to go! As you already know, polka dots hold a special place in my heart and these pants are just a part of my vast collection of dotted clothing items.

East Coast Adventures

Cheers to me turning 20 years old!
 Shake Shack Goodness.
 Dan's inner model.
Dan's favorite sculpture at the Met. Of course it's a cat. (P.S. I know this is a bad picture but this took me like 10 tries. Sad, right?)
 Chen Famiry!
The best sister ever.
Chen famiry represent!!
 Ain't she a beaut?
Always laughing with my CHEN FAMIRY~ Miss them so much already.
Over the course of a week, I got to visit my sister in New York, explore the city of New York on my own, and attend a cousin's wedding (and also my first wedding ever, mind you) in Boston! I had so much fun spending time with my sister, cousins, and family. It has been god knows when since all my 6 cousins have gathered together so it was definitely a fun mini family reunion. At the wedding, we couldn't stop yelling CHEN FAMIRY obnoxiously. (It's become a running inside joke). I love all my cousins so much and I'm so incredibly happy I got to see them and spend time with them. It was definitely a good break from good ol' Southern California. I've included just a few pictures from my trip. In these photos, there are pictures from the Highline Park, Shake Shack, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Harvard Faculty Club. Hope you enjoy!
